The City of Devonport in Tasmania will ensure the community gets the best value for money from its investment in new community infrastructure by expanding its long-standing partnership with Australian Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) ERP provider, TechnologyOne, to include Project Lifecycle Management (PLM) in its integrated TechnologyOne product suite.
The City already employs TechnologyOne’s Property & Rating, Financials, HR and Payroll, and asset management products, and will now use PLM to enhance the planning and delivery of its capital works program.
The City of Devonport invested over $25 million in 2022/23 to renew community infrastructure, including local sports facilities, parks, roads, footpaths, and stormwater facilities, and will use PLM to provide deeper insights in assets’ condition, make smarter decisions, and be proactive while planning capital works projects.
PLM will allow Devonport to take a more strategic approach to lifecycle management, from prioritisation and optimisation to delivery. This enables council staff to automate manual processes, centralise project data, reduce budget overruns, and access real-time reporting and analytics, all from a single source of truth.
Jeffrey Griffith, Deputy General Manager at the City of Devonport, said: “The decision to expand our TechnologyOne suite was a natural next step. We've been working with TechnologyOne for over 20 years, and since moving to SaaS in 2018, we’ve been impressed with the strength of the integrated solutions.
“Adding PLM to our suite makes sense—we’re already familiar with the platform and having a one-stop shop for all our project data helps us focus on delivering high-quality capital works that benefits our community well into the future.”
TechnologyOne Local Government Executive Vice President, Ben Malpass, said: “Devonport’s decision to expand its suite demonstrates the value of purpose-built solutions for councils. It shows us we are producing products that our local government customers want, supporting them to deliver for their growing communities.”
“It’s fantastic to see forward-thinking councils like Devonport continue to expand their use of our products and leveraging PLM to ensure that their programs are effectively managing their assets.”
The City of Devonport has also integrated Internet of Things (IoT) devices in its local parks, which alert field staff when maintenance is needed, including emptying bins and cleaning barbeque shelters, through TechnologyOne Enterprise Asset Management.
