City of Newcastle has reached a major digital milestone, becoming the first council in New South Wales to successfully implement both TechnologyOne’s CiA Property & Rating and DxP Local Government customer portal simultaneously.
The go-live is the result of an 18-month modernisation program to replace the previous fragmented legacy system with TechnologyOne’s unified, next-generation platforms.
Built specifically for Australian Local Government, TechnologyOne’s CiA Property & Ratings solution enables the City of Newcastle to:
- Streamline and automate revenue management
- Improve data integrity and accuracy across core systems
- Reduce cost and complexity by retiring outdated onpremise tools
- Enhance service delivery for a rapidly growing resident base
- Provide staff with a modern, intuitive user experience
By consolidating legacy systems into one modern SaaS platform, the City of Newcastle is strengthening operational efficiency, reducing risk and positioning itself for future community growth.
Alicia Lopez, Chief Information Officer, City of Newcastle, said “This milestone is central to our long-term digital transformation roadmap. We’re officially the first council in NSW to go live with both CiA Property & Rating and DXP LG at the same time. It was a necessary project as we retired our ageing systems. By completing both implementations together, we have accelerated benefits, reduced disruption, and delivered an even more unified customer experience.”
“With almost 200,000 residents depending on digital access to essential services, our community will now have simpler, faster and more intuitive experiences - streamlining payments, property enquiries, requests and reporting while reducing administrative overhead for staff,” Ms Lopez said.
As the second largest metropolitan council outside Greater Sydney, Newcastle’s dual go-live demonstrates what is possible when councils modernise end-to-end, achieving a cost and time-efficient transformation by combining major platforms into a single program.
Ben Malpass, Executive Vice President for Local Government at TechnologyOne, said: “Newcastle is one of the most forward-thinking councils in the state. Their successful CiA Property & Rating go-live shows what’s possible when councils commit to modern, integrated systems that remove legacy constraints and improve services for their communities.”
This implementation is a great example of how our One Council SaaS solution, build specifically to support Local Government digital transformation, becomes essential for councils striving to deliver efficient, reliable and scalable services to growing communities. City of Newcastle’s achievement highlights a clear pathway for councils nationally as they embrace next-generation platforms.
