More than 20,000 Tasmanian TAFE learners will soon have greater control over their study life, with a new digital scheduling system designed to make it easier to balance classes, work, and personal commitments.
TechnologyOne’s Timetabling & Scheduling (T&S) was selected by TasTAFE, giving learners and staff real-time visibility of timetables across any device, as well as the ability to sync with personal calendars such as Outlook 365. The platform simplifies scheduling, improves communication, and reduces administrative workload – delivering a more personalised and flexible experience for both staff and learners.
TasTAFE’s expansion of its TechnologyOne footprint reflects a broader shift across the higher education and training sector, with institutions increasingly modernising and consolidating their core systems to improve efficiency and better meet student expectations in a competitive market.
Will McShane, TasTAFE Interim CEO, said “For many of our learners, timetables aren’t just about classes – they often determine whether study is manageable alongside their personal and work commitments. We want to make it as simple as possible for them to access training and provide the right tools to allow staff to focus on delivering a quality educational experience for our learners. These systems will help us achieve that.”
The new platform will support staff by improving the efficiency of timetable creation and adaption, optimising rooms and resources, and reducing scheduling conflicts.
TechnologyOne Executive Vice President of Education Mark Jones, said, “Timetabling is one of the biggest challenges for TAFEs, with staff juggling limited classrooms, specialist equipment, and teachers across multiple campuses and courses. The complexity often results in clashes and additional pressure on staff time. Our capability helps to ease that burden, streamlining scheduling and enabling staff to spend more time supporting students rather than managing logistics.”
"This scalable SaaS solution was developed for the education sector and can grow with TasTAFE to meet the rising demand for better systems, while also providing the data and insight needed to make smart, evidence-based decisions for the long term.”
Earlier this year, TasTAFE signed onto TechnologyOne’s Student Management solution, consolidating front-of-house student services and core business operations in one system spanning admissions through to graduation.
TechnologyOne is the preferred software provider for Australian TAFEs, with 65 per cent of institutes using one or more of its OneEducation ERP products.
