TechnologyOne has renewed its sponsorship of the La Trobe University Elite Athlete Program, extending a partnership first established in 2021 and reinforcing its commitment to supporting student athletes to excel in both sport and study.

The renewed sponsorship supports elite student‑athletes as they balance the financial, academic and personal pressures of high‑performance sport with university study and future career development. It reflects TechnologyOne’s ongoing investment in the community, to build long-term wellbeing, resilience, capability development and career readiness.

Central to the partnership is TechnologyOne’s contribution to the Elite Athlete Support Fund, which helps students cover costs associated with training, travel and competition.

Over the last 5 years, TechnologyOne‑supported bursaries have helped more than 20 La Trobe student‑athletes to compete at national and international events, including world championships and competitions across Australia, the United States, Canada, Brazil, Finland, Italy, South Korea and Belgium. Athletes have represented both La Trobe University and Australia across disciplines, including athletics, gymnastics, cycling, equestrian and taekwondo.

Mark Jones, Executive Vice President – Education at TechnologyOne, said “TechnologyOne is proudly backing students through the moments that matter most. Elite athletes face unique financial, academic and personal pressures. This partnership with La Trobe University helps remove barriers so students can focus on performing at their best – both in sport and in their studies.”

“By investing in wellbeing and future capability, we’re supporting students’ success today while building the confidence, resilience, and skills that will benefit them long after graduation,” Mr Jones said.

Nick Lambert, Senior Manager, La Trobe Sport, said TechnologyOne’s continued investment was making a material difference.

“This funding has enabled dozens of student‑athletes to represent La Trobe University and Australia on national and international stages, while easing financial pressure so they can focus on performing at their best — academically and athletically.”

Student‑athletes say the support has been critical in managing the demands of elite sport and university study.

Matthew Holdich, Distance Running student (Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science), said the sponsorship had opened new opportunities.

“Juggling work, study and training isn’t easy, but the bursary eased my financial stress and allowed me to reduce my work hours. That meant more time for training and study, which helped me perform at the Australian Track and Field Championships. Support like this is incredibly motivating and plays a big role in helping athletes pursue their goals.”

Evie Kamevaar, Equestrian student (Bachelor of Biomedical Science), said the funding reduced pressure during a demanding academic and competition period.

“The support helped me compete at a major international event while balancing exams. It meant less time worrying about work and more time training and studying. Knowing there’s a company willing to support students pursuing their sport and study dreams is incredibly motivating.”

By renewing its sponsorship of the La Trobe Elite Athlete Program, TechnologyOne continues to support student success — not only in sport and study, but in life beyond university.
