Wyndham City Council's on time, on budget digital uplift to TechnologyOne’s OneCouncil ERP is already eliminating inefficiencies and data silos as the fast-growing local government area prepares for half a million residents by 2040.
Phase one of Wyndham City Council’s digital transformation has provided the council with an integrated and holistic view of an ambitious capital works program of more than $160 million underway to meet growing demand.
Within the first six weeks, Wyndham Council has significantly enhanced day-to-day operations at scale, automating workflows to enable the processing of over 11,600 customer requests and creating over 3,300 work orders.
Wyndham City Council CEO Stephen Wall said: “We’re proud that Wyndham City has become such a sought-after place for people to call home, but rapid growth means more housing, roads, libraries, health services, schools, waste management and so on. Delivering phase one of our ERP program on-time and on-budget was no small feat, as these types of implementations are never easy. But by upgrading the core back-office system, Wyndham City Council is reinforcing its commitment to the community, ensuring everyone gets access to the services they need now and in the future.”
The transition to a single source of truth will also strengthen the council’s ability to keep up with projected demand in the coming years.
Despite Wyndham City expecting to grow to 500,000 residents in the next 15 years, the State Government’s rate cap – currently sitting lower than inflation at just 2.75% – doesn’t take population growth into account. As a result, the council will rely heavily on TechnologyOne’s OneCouncil to accurately track every dollar, effectively maintain assets, and prioritise future-focused decisions.
“Every local government area requires constant investment in infrastructure and services, but ultimately, it’s the fast-growing communities that need their councils to be as efficient and forward-thinking as possible. So, it was vital we implemented modern technology that enables us to make data-driven decisions that not only maintain service levels but also enhance them into the future. These types of implementations are no small feat, but building a strong partnership with TechnologyOne enabled us to deliver our new ERP system on time and on budget,” Mr Wall said.
Phase two of Wyndam City Council’s digital transformation is set to bring even greater capacity to managing new and existing infrastructure, supporting decision making from development through to maintenance and decommission.
Ben Malpass, Executive Vice President for Local Government at TechnologyOne, said: “Many councils are being challenged to leverage technology to derive productivity and efficiency gains, but compromising on service delivery or safety just isn’t an option. Wyndham City Council’s proactive tech-first approach towards greater transparency and enhanced processes is already delivering significant gains and we are proud to have helped them realise these benefits. We look forward to continuing to work in collaboration with the team at Wyndham to roll out even more capabilities in the coming months.”
