Yarra Ranges Shire Council has delivered a major digital transformation in record time, becoming one of the first councils in Australia to launch TechnologyOne’s Digital Experience Platform (DxP LG) in just 3 months.

This move is the latest milestone in the Council’s multi-year transformation program to create a seamless, customer-first experience. It coincides with the rollout of TechnologyOne’s Property & Rating (P&R) product, giving residents a consolidated self-service portal to access services faster and more easily.

Vincenzo Lombardi, Director of Corporate Services at Yarra Ranges Shire Council said, “DxP LG gave us the chance to launch a platform that’s more accessible for ratepayers and tourists alike. It’s about making services easier, more intuitive, and more connected to community needs. For example, when someone registers their pet online, we can also alert them to animal expos, pet-friendly parks, or even local health risks like parvo outbreaks in their area.”

“Every go live of this magnitude is challenging, but our partnership with TechnologyOne gave us the support we needed to make it work. That enabled us to bring everything together quickly.”

Customer service teams are already reporting positive feedback, with residents now able to access services online 24/7, reducing the need for time-consuming phone calls and face-to-face visits. Staff are also benefiting from a single, consolidated knowledge base, replacing information that was previously scattered across the website, SharePoint, and records management systems.

“You don’t realise what clean data looks like until you’ve experienced it. Having a single data source of truth empowers staff to resolve issues quickly and lays the foundations to integrate AI capabilities so we can work smarter,” Mr Lombardi said.

“A single view of the customer isn’t optional anymore; it’s the way of the future. TechnologyOne has the solution to deliver that, but you need clean data, clear expectations for staff, and a willingness to embrace change to bring the system to life.”

Ben Malpass, EVP for Local Government at TechnologyOne said, “Yarra Ranges is showing what’s possible when councils embrace digital transformation with focus and determination. Launching DxP LG in just 3 months, alongside its adoption of P&R, is simply remarkable. It’s a great example of how a single digital platform can deliver faster, smarter services for residents while reducing complexity behind the scenes. Councils across Australia are under pressure to do more with less, and Yarra Ranges is proving that modern, connected technology makes that possible.”

Backed by more than 37 years' experience working with councils across Australia and New Zealand, TechnologyOne's purpose-built OneCouncil SaaS ERP solution helps local governments adapt to the evolving landscape.
