The Team Australia Fund was started following policy changes in the United States that resulted in Australian research projects being put at risk by the withdrawal of previously committed research funds.
The Team Australian Fund have acted to support Australian researchers who may find their livelihoods at risk from the unexpected loss of financial support for projects, through no fault of their own. We believe there is no more critical time for the Australian business community to act to support our national R&D infrastructure.
We know that our businesses would not exist if not for Australia’s proud history and culture as a research nation.
How it works
Eligible projects must:
- Have previously secured funding from genuine and reputable sources,
- Have received US funding, and
- Lost that US funding due to recent US Government policy changes.
Applications will be assessed by an expert independent committee to validate they are from a legitimate organisation and that they meet eligibility criteria.
Once approved by the panel, successful applicants will receive an offer and a contract in order to secure a contribution from the fund.
The Committee may cap offers or make offers in amounts lower than the application request.
Application process
Applications open 13 October 2025 and close 20 December 2025 or when funds are exhausted, depending on what comes first. Successful applicants will be advised as soon as possible.
Applications are now closed.
Team Australia Committee
Members of the committee are Jane O’Dwyer (Cooperative Research Australia), John Wellard (Universities Australia), and chair Mark Jones (TechnologyOne).
